The district is endowed with famous Hindu temples like Mamanga Pillayar Kovil, Punnaichcholai Kali Kovil (temple to the Godess Amman) Anaipanthy& Sittandy Pillaiyar temples each having its own mythological and historical background. Every temple has its own annual festival with its own cultural pageantry that include Kavady dance and Fire Walking ceremonies. Temple festivals fall between June and August during the peak of summer.
